New variables for brane-world gravity

Geometric variables naturally occurring in a time-like foliation of brane-worlds are introduced. These consist of the induced metric and two sets of lapse functions and shift vectors, supplemented by two sets of tensorial, vectorial and scalar variables arising as projections of the two extrinsic curvatures. A subset of these variables turn out to be dynamical. Magyarország honfoglalás kori és kora Árpád-kori sírleletei = Grave-goods of Hungary from the Age of the Hungarian Landtaking and the Early Arpadians

Egyedül a Heves megyei kötet készült el Révész László munkájaként, ami egyben Szabó J. Győző teljes honfoglalás kori szakmai hagyatékát is tartalmazza. A Komárom-Esztergom megyei kötetből csak a felvidéki rész készült el (Nevizánszky Gábor), a hazai terület anyagának megírását külső körülmények befolyásolták: Prohászka Péter elvesztette a múzeumi állását, egy kollegája pedig szívinfarktusa miatt esett ki a munkából. A Hajdú-Bihar megyei 2. kötet állása bizonytalan, a megírása megszakadt, s a nyugdíjba ment szerzője (Mesterházy Károly) nem volt a pályázók által serkenthető. A Győr-Moson-Sopron megyei kötet megírása (Paszternák István) szintén a befejezés előtt szakadt félbe. | In the years 2007-2007 the only volume of the archaeological material of county Heves from the 10th-12th centuries was completed by László Révész, embodying also the whole archaeological bequest of Győző Szabó János from this period. Only finds of its Slowak territory were elaborated in case of Komárom-Esztergom county (by Gábor Nevizánszky). The Hungarian part had not been completed because of some external circumstences: one of the authors has lost his employment in the museum, other one has got a myocardial infarction. The situation with the 2nd volume of the Hajdú-Bihar county is uncertain, its pensioned author (Károly Mesterházy) couldn't be stimulated by the editors. Service-oriented Context-aware Framework

Location- and context-aware services are emerging technologies in mobile and desktop environments, however, most of them are difficult to use and do not seem to be beneficial enough. Our research focuses on designing and creating a service-oriented framework that helps location- and context-aware, client-service type application development and use. Location information is combined with other contexts such as the users' history, preferences and disabilities. The framework also handles the spatial model of the environment (e.g. map of a room or a building) as a context. The framework is built on a semantic backend where the ontologies are represented using the OWL description language. The use of ontologies enables the framework to run inference tasks and to easily adapt to new context types. The framework contains a compatibility layer for positioning devices, which hides the technical differences of positioning technologies and enables the combination of location data of various sources

Einige Überlegungen zum Netzwerkcharakter des mentalen Lexikons und zu möglichen Konsequenzen für die Didaktik des Fremdsprachenerwerbs

Im Beitrag wird auf aktuelle Ergebnisse der Forschung zum mentalen Lexikon eingegangen. Das mentale Lexikon wird dabei aus der Sicht der Netzwerktheorie untersucht. Der Netzwerkcharakter des mentalen Lexikons hat zur Folge, dass die gelernten Wörter nicht voneinander unabhängig existieren: Sie sind miteinander verknüpft. Diese Verknüpfungen sind nicht gleich stark; zudem ist die Richtung dieser Verknüpfung von großer Bedeutung. Assoziationstests in mehreren Sprachen zeigen, dass dasselbe Wort in verschiedenen Sprachen verschiedene Verknüpfungen hat bzw. dass die Stärke der Verknüpfungen zwischen zwei beliebigen Wörtern von Sprache zu Sprache variiert. Beim Fremdsprachenerwerb und Fremdsprachenunterricht werden diese Unterschiede kaum berücksichtigt. Der vorliegende Beitrag analysiert das mentale Lexikon aus der Perspektive der Netzwerke. Dabei wird das Projekt ConnectYourMind vorgestellt, das in mehreren Sprachen Assoziationsdaten sammelt

A magyar fizika XX. századi története = History of physics in Hungary (XX. century)

A kutatás eredményei 1. Elkészült a Magyar fizikus emlékhelyek a világban c. tanulmány, melynek teljes anyaga internetre feltehető formában is megvan. Egyes részeit itthon és külföldön is publikáltuk. 2. Elkészült A magyarok szerepe a fizika XIX. és XX. századi történetében "Tudós és tanár portrék a kutatási eredmények és az oktatási alkalmazások kiemelésével" c. tanulmány. Önálló kötetben megjelent angolul és magyarul a Wigner, a Neumann és Rátz , a Zemplén és a Gábor Dénes kismonográfia. Kötet részeként és folyóiratban tettük közzé az Orován, Neumann, Gábor Dénes, Edelmann, Jedlik, Wigner, Mikola, Teller, Öveges és a Farkas Gyula tanulmányt. Elkészült és bemutatásra került a Deutsches Museumban fellelhető magyar fizikus és műszaki emlékeket és a Gábor Dénes hamvainak megtalálását bemutató tv-film. Kéziratban vannak az Intézeteink és vezető személyiségeik sorozatból: Selényi Pál és a MÜFI, Gothard Jenő és a GAO valamint a Simonyi Károly és a KFKI c. munkák. 3. Előadások tartásával, kiállítással, képzőművészeti alkotások ihletésével és finanszirozásával kapcsolódtunk a Fizika Évéhez. Az évfordulókhoz kapcsolódóan sok magyar és nemzetközi előadást szenteltünk Einstein, Neumann, Guericke , Teller és Wigner életművének . | Results 1. We made the paper: Memories of the Hungarian physicists int he world. The paper is on CD and it is proper for internet use as well. We published some parts of this work in Hungary and abroad. 2. The work: 'The role of Hungarians int he history of physics at the XIXth and XXth century' concentrating on the personality of the scientists and his teachers, with documentation of educational applications. From this work we published in separated books in Hungarian and English: the life and work of Wigner, Neumann, Rátz, Zemplén, Gábor. We published papers in journals, at the www and as a part of a book on Orován, Neumann, Gábor, Edelmann, Jedlik, Wigner, Mikola, Teller, Öveges, G. Farkas. We made tv-films, which were on air as well, on documents of Hungarian physicists and enginers at the Deutsches Museum and on the discovery of resting place of D. Gábor. From the series 'Our research institutions and their leading scientists' the following manuscripts are ready: P. Selényi and the MÜFI, E. Gothard and the GAO, C. Simonyi and the KFKI. 3. We take part in the events of the World Years of Physics with lectures, exhibitions and sculptures. We held lectures on Einstein, Neumann, Guericke, Teller and Wigner connecting to the anniversaries

Autoantibodies to autonomic neurotransmitter receptors - A unique pathway of neuro-immune interactions

Circulating autoantibodies directed against receptors of various autonomic neurotransmitters, including the muscarinic and nicotinic ganglionic acetylcholine-receptor and the beta-1-adrenergic receptor have been detected in patients with various autoimmune diseases. These antibodies have been hypothesised to have a direct influence on the function of the target organ, including exocrine glandular function, smooth muscle or myocardium contractility. The potential immune-mediated function-modifying interaction between the immune and the autonomic nervous system has inspired interesting experiments. These studies have explored unique pathways whereby autoantibodies may alter the cellular and tissue homeostasis leading to organ damage. The present review summarises these results, with particular focus on anti-muscarinic receptor antibodies in Sjögren's syndrome, and highlights the difficulties in the detection of anti-neurotransmitter receptor antibodies. ©2012-IOS Press and the authors.
